Waltham Forest Gaza Ceasefire Demand

On 1st November 2023, the Waltham Forest Council of Mosques (WFCOM) addressed a letter to local councillors and MPs vehemently condemning the distressing bombing of civilian areas in Gaza by Israel. The letter highlighted the grave humanitarian crisis, noting that a Palestinian child has tragically been killed every 10 minutes over the past three weeks, totalling over 3,000 casualties.

WFCOM called for an immediate cessation of these violent acts, labelling any interim “humanitarian pause” as unsatisfactory. The letter emphasized widespread support for a ceasefire, with political leaders across all parties and 76% of the British public echoing this sentiment.

Additionally, it cited the recent gathering of thousands in Waltham Forest Town Square, demonstrating solidarity with the Palestinian cause. WFCOM demands that political representatives advocate for peace and hold violators of international law accountable.
