Grenfell Tribute
(Extract From Artist) Here’s a tribute created by Faisal The Artist for Grenfell. It is the fourth anniversary of the Grenfell fire that happened in the night of Ramadan in 2017. 72 people lost their lives, many families lost their homes and were traumatised with the aftermath. There is a lack of accountability & enforcement of stripping buildings in the UK of cladding.
274,000 flats have been fitted with dangerous cladding in the UK, according to the Association of Residential Managing Agents, affecting more than 650,000 people. Over 8000 buildings in London & 500 in Manchester still have cladding.
We’re living in the west where countries are invaded when they ‘abuse’ human rights. What about this? Living in a safe place is a human right.
Last month we had the Providence Wharf fire in London. Thankfully firefighters managed to control it. But it still had cladding on. It could have been another Grenfell.
The tragedy of Grenfell is still ongoing, our thoughts are with those who lost their lives and their families. We pray this oppression will stop one day. Never stop talking about it, we will never forget.
Remember & reflect today about Grenfell at 7pm with @grenfell_united #grenfell #grenfelltower
